El Camino’s class of 2026 is turning their tassels and officially finishing their final chapter at EC after the graduation ceremony, held on June 5 in the football stadium.

Prior to graduation, many Senior events took place starting in the end of May and going into June. Senior Awards Night was held on May 27 in the Performing Arts Center and Honors Senior Breakfast was on May 28, hosting Senior students with a grade point average of 3.5 or above and their families. Senior Rally was on May 29 after the end of Senior Spirit Week, with Senior Sunset also being held that night on the football field. Finally, Seniors took their final tests on June 1 and 2.

EC’s class of 2026 had four valedictorians: Morgan Saylors (‘26), Nathan Parsons (‘26), Bryce Wahlquist (‘26) and Ferris Cockerham (‘26). These four students all had a 4.0 unweighted GPA and have taken ten or more honors courses in their time at EC.

Bryce Wahlquist (’26), one of four valedictorians, poses with principal Evelyn Welborn as he receives his diploma.

The commencement ceremony began at 7:30 p.m., starting with the entrance of the Senior class, which was preceded by the Honor Guard. Honor Guard is composed of the top 10 academically ranked Junior students at EC. Multiple student performances and speeches took place during the event, with students Dylan Fox (‘26), Quinn Reynolds (‘26) and Eugene Juarez (‘26), as well as EC’s choir all giving musical performances, and students Chance Murdock (‘26) and Sadaf Qadery (‘26) both giving speeches during the ceremony.

Graduates Quinn Reynolds (’26), Dylan Fox (’26) and Eugene Juarez (’26) perform an instrumental piece by Felix Mendelssohn from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, a play by William Shakespeare.

Finally, graduating Seniors walked the stage to receive their diplomas with a teacher of their choice calling their name. Once all students received their diplomas, the class turned their tassels and tossed their caps in the air to mark the closing of their time at EC.

After the summer, many graduates plan on attending different colleges and universities in the fall.
