Today, representatives of El Camino’s student government came into students’ second period classes and announced that the dates of this year’s homecoming events, including the annual rally, football game and dance, have been changed due to scheduling conflicts.

Originally, student government was set to put on the homecoming rally on Sept. 11, with EC’s football team scheduled to play that night against Center. The dance then would occur the following day, Sept. 12. Now, student government has made the decision to push all three events back three weeks. Student government advisor Shannon Fox spoke about what caused the decision to change the dates of homecoming.

“Well, there are many factors that went into changing the homecoming dates–but it was ultimately a scheduling conflict,” said Fox.

Now, the homecoming rally is scheduled for Oct. 2, and the football game is scheduled for that night against Dixon, with varsity starting at 7:00 p.m. The homecoming dance will now be held the following day, Oct. 3. These events will also now be happening before and over a long weekend, where students will have the following Monday, Oct. 5, off from school.

Homecoming dance tickets will soon be available for purchase in the finance office. For more information on this year’s homecoming events, talk to Fox in room A-8.
