The 2021-2022 El Camino school year has started and events have already been planned and carried out to ensure students get the most out of their high school years.

The current social distancing policy for schools inside the San Juan School District recommends limiting unnecessary social events. Although some social events like rallies got postponed due to the social distancing regulations, a few were approved to be held anyway.

This Friday, August 20, an ice cream social will be held for sophomores in order for the students to get to familiarize themselves with one another and get used to the campus since last year they never got that chance.

Another planned event is senior parking lot painting on August 21, where the seniors, who reserved their parking spot, will be able to paint it however they would like. All students must also register their vehicle on a Google Form sent to their student email whether or not they park in the Senior Parking Lot.

Club rush was announced to take place on September 9 for students to show off their clubs and others to join if they’re interested. To start a new club, you must pick up a form from room 40.

Another new thing this year in the state of California is that free food will be available to all students. Breakfast and lunch will be served at no cost for the remainder of the school year.
