On Friday, Mar. 13, El Camino gathered in the back quad to watch and participate in an activity put on by student government: pie-a-teacher. Students could pay one or three dollars for the chance to pie Kelly Kissling, Hannah Cain, David Manigart, Sean Bill, Damaree Morris or Scott Battenfield. Students who paid more money could stand closer to the teacher and have a better chance at hitting their target.

From left to right, Scott Battenfield, Damaree Morris, David Manigart, Kelly Kissling, Hannah Cain and Sean Bill sit on the stage in the back quad, covered with garbage bags and goggles to protect themselves. Students could throw a pie tin full of whipped cream at any of these teachers for either one or three dollars.

This fundraiser was in support of EC’s freshman class to benefit their future Junior Prom and Senior Ball, as well as other events for the class of 2029. Freshman class president Sophie Partin (‘29) explained why their student government class chose this fundraiser idea.

“I had done this fundraiser at my middle school before, so I thought it would be a really cool fundraiser to do for Pi Day. We especially tried to pick freshman teachers so that everybody would have had them, and I think it went really well,” Partin said.

Apart from this being a fundraiser for student government, it is also a way to celebrate the holiday of pie day, which took place on Mar. 14. Eagle Polytechnic Institute students could get  free piece of pie in the back quad to celebrate the day.

Come out and support student government with their next lunchtime activity, tape-a-teacher, which will be held in the back quad on Friday, Mar. 20 for one or ten dollars.
