On Feb. 4, El Camino’s girls soccer team celebrated their eight graduating senior players in a 6-0 win against Natomas at home.

Before the game began, the Eagles hosted a ceremony to honor the seniors during which they walked across the field linked arm-in-arm with their friends and family members. Each player received a bouquet of flowers from the underclassmen and coaches of the team.

As for the match, the girls won in a blowout win with six goals to zero, leading the team to now be 14-0 in league. Co-captain Yarelie Lizarraga (‘26) and Raelyn Dalizu (‘27) were two standout players, scoring two goals each. The remaining two goals were scored by Kennedy Stowell (‘28) and Ninarose Linan (‘27)

Along with the team’s outstanding offensive performance, the team’s defense managed to shut out the opposing Nighthawks with co-captain Gabriella Cooper (‘26) in goal.

Gabriella Cooper (’26) comes out of the goal to kick the ball up the field during her senior night against Natomas. Cooper had a total of 53 saves this league season, and only let in three goals.

Cooper has played soccer all four years of her high school career in goal, with three of those years being varsity. She reflected on the team’s stellar season so far and what they hope to achieve looking into the postseason.

“We are undefeated [in league] so far, we won league, so I think out of my four years this is the best team I’ve been on. The intensity that we show at games and at practice is definitely an improvement from the other years and it’s great,” said Cooper.

Cooper mentioned that the team’s overall goal going into the season was to win sections and hopefully move on to regionals. The girls are currently scheduled to play Weston Ranch tomorrow night.

Lizarraga, a fellow captain and four-year varsity forward, was one of the senior players celebrated Wednesday night. She also had a season-high two goals during the match. Throughout the years, Lizarraga has seen how the team has changed and formed into the playoff-bound squad they are today. She spoke about the nostalgia and emotions she was feeling during her senior night.

“I felt very accomplished. It was so nice, not just to score, but having all the people I love being there for me and supporting me,” said Lizarraga.

Lizarraga is excited and looking forward to the post-season in her final year on the team.
