Last night, football coach Andy Sullivan sent out a message to EC football families that as of now, varsity players will be placed into JV and the varsity games tomorrow and next Friday are cancelled. The coach cited low player count, missed practices and behavioral concerns as reasons for this decision. In response, a petition on change.org was created by Rylee Mayfield (‘26) and several other students to “save senior night”, which currently has over 770 signatures. Mayfield said how the actions of a few players on the team, presumably the ones who were missing practices and creating behavioral concerns, should not affect the whole community, who has been waiting for this game for years. After seeing the petition, Anaya Watson (‘26) organized a protest for today at lunch outside of the Athletics Department. Watson stated that the protest is not anything on the scale of a walkout, and that the purpose of the demonstration is to get more information from the administration. This is an ongoing story and more information will be provided at a later time.
