On May 30, the Senior Rally and Senior Sunset gave El Camino a chance to celebrate the graduation of the class of 2025. The Senior Rally took place after second period in the large gym. Senior Sunset started at 7pm on the football field.
The Senior Rally is for the entire school to celebrate the graduating class and to end the school year with some fun activities. Many programs that performed featured seniors, such as seniors in the choir singing “Vienna” by Billy Joel. Seniors also faced off with lowerclassmen in a ‘brain rot’ competition. The seniors won by answering the most questions about jokes trending on social media.
Owen Lennertz (‘25) sang and played guitar as students lit up the gym with their phone flashlights. EC’s band performed a song, and the Hip Hop Anonymous seniors danced at a rally for the last time in their highschool career. The rally ended with a preview of the senior slideshow, exhibiting a wide variety of photos and videos submitted by the class of 2025.
Akemi Ito (‘25) made the senior slideshow, and she expressed her feelings while watching the finished product.
“It was cool to see it all back in one video—I felt really proud of it at the rally because people were interacting with it,” Ito said.
At Senior Sunset, there was a longer version of the slide show for seniors to enjoy. There were also snacks and drinks, including strawberry freeze provided by Hagen’s Orange Freeze. There were also many games to play, including ping pong and cornhole.
Charlie Snyder (‘25) was in charge of planning the event, and he commented on the successfulness of the night.
“I’d say a good amount of people came out—no one was sitting around,” Snyder said.
Senior Rally and Senior Sunset are longtime traditions at EC, and they will continue to honor seniors for years to come. The senior’s graduation ceremony will be held June 6, at the football stadium starting at 7:30 pm.
