The class of 2025 gathered together on the El Camino football field on the morning of Aug. 23 to watch the sunrise together at the annual Senior Sunrise.

Seniors arrived at EC at 5:30 am while it was still dark, and spent roughly the next hour and a half taking pictures and enjoying their time as new seniors.

At Senior Sunrise was Bad Bakers mobile, a local food truck that serves donuts, bread and other breakfast pastry items.

Associated Student Body President Breanna Cabral (‘25) was in charge of bringing the food truck to EC.

“I found their Intsagram and I DM’ed their account, gave them all the information [and] got their insurance,” Cabral explained. “It was free, they kept all the funds they made off of [the seniors].”

Advertising included putting posters around the school and posting on instagram leading up to the event. Most of the seniors noted that the turnout was very good, with around 100 students in attendance.

Aside from the food truck, seniors spend most of their time at senior sunrise taking pictures with their friends. Student Government makes posters and cutouts for the seniors to pose with.

Senior Class president Lucas Waddell (‘25) was in charge of Senior Sunrise and explained why he believed it is an important tradition.

“I think it’s a good way to have the senior class bond–it’s a good ceremony and a good way to end our high school days,” Waddell said.

Cabral added that Senior Sunrise is a great opportunity to socialize with the senior class a whole and bond over their shared experiences.

“It’s important because senior year the class typically unites–and everyone comes together, and this is a great event for that to happen at,” Cabral said.

At the end of the school year, Student Government will hold Senior Sunset, which is similar to Senior Sunrise but instead it symbolizes the end of their last year of high school and is held at night.
