On Friday March 8 El Camino held their first ever Festival of Colors dance in the large gym. This dance was held to celebrate culture week that included spirit days leading up to the dance. The gymnasium was transformed into a vibrant spectacle, with students decked out in an array of colorful outfits, also reflecting the theme of the event.

One of the highlights of the evening was the inclusion of several bounce houses, which provided a playful and energetic atmosphere for attendees to enjoy. Their inclusion encouraged active participation and contributed to the overall enjoyment of the evening for students.

There was also a Kona Ice truck present at the dance to offer attendees a refreshing and enjoyable treat during the event. With its assortment of flavorful shaved ice options, the truck refreshed students and allowed them to indulge in an icy treat while mingling with friends and fellow classmates.

Addison Ponder (‘24) helped plan the dance, and she had to coordinate with the bounce house company and the Kona Ice truck.

“I had to do all the service agreements for every vendor that we use.” Ponder explained.

The dance was split into three different sections, including the small gym for dancing, the large gym for the bounce houses, and the breezeway to enjoy Kona Ice and talk to friends.

Lucas Waddell (‘25) explained what his favorite section of the dance was.

“The bounce house was super fun, but I honestly had more fun in the dance room—everyone was in there having fun.” Waddell said.

The success of the Festival of Colors dance underscored EC’s commitment to providing inclusive and enjoyable events for its student body. Overall, the event was a memorable celebration of diversity and community spirit for students to enjoy.
