El Camino will be hosting the Captain Joseph House Foundation on Feb. 17 from 7-9 p.m. in the El Camino Center for the Arts to share information and spread awareness about their unique foundation.
The CJH Foundation was founded by Betsy Schultz in honor of her son Captain Joseph Schultz who died in combat while in Afghanistan in 2011. Joseph Schultz was a student at EC and was a part of the 1993 graduating class. Students can find Schultz’s memorial plaque in the front quad.
The CJH foundation is a non-profit that strives to help Gold Star families, who are families that have lost a loved one while serving in the military. The foundation provides a home in Port Angeles, Washington for families to, according to the foundation’s website, stay in an “expense-paid, 5-night, 6-day respite/retreat in the scenic Pacific Northwest.”
The event that will be held at EC will be providing information about their foundation. Tickets are $25 for anyone over the age of 19 and free for anyone who is 19 or younger. To purchase tickets visit brownpaertickets.com. If you would like to donate or learn more about the CJH Foundation go to captainjosephhousefoundation.org or call the Foundation at 360-460-7848.
