Winter is upon El Camino, and it was celebrated with a Snow Ball dance in the the small gym on Dec. 8. The event was winter themed, with blue and white decorations, a photo booth and a DJ who had party lights around the table.
During the dance, the line for the photo booth was very long because many students wanted to take home pictures from the dance.
Hannah Schooley (‘24) oversaw the planning for this dance and she was in charge of making sure everyone did their part.
“I had to organize with the DJ and the photobooth—I had to come up with songs for the playlist, and then organize the booking of the gym,” Schooley explained.
Schooley also spoke about how her favorite part of the dance was the photo booth.
“It was something we haven’t done before and it was super popular—it’s a memory,” Schooley said.
The Snow Ball was a new idea for this year as EC has not held a winter dance for a long time. and student government wanted to add a new event for students. Many students traditionally hang out with their friends and get ready before the dance.
Bella Machado (‘26) got ready with at group of friends at her house.
“It was so much fun—I got ready and took pictures,” Machado said.
The decorations in the dance were glittery and snowy. Streamers hung from the ceiling, and fairy lights were outside in the breezeway.
Romani Trejo (‘24) was in charge of the decorations. She had to figure out a color scheme and what decorations to buy.
“I go to Pinterest and I figure out some good ideas—then I sit down with Mrs. Turner and order the decorations,” Trejo explained
The Snow Ball was widely regarded as a fun new event that will continue at EC in the years to come. To find out more about upcoming events, look out for the EC weekly email newsletter.
